  Born near Paris, Sophie has drawn from as early as she could remember, on whatever medium she could find, from napkins to school tables. Highly encouraged by her mother and grandmother, she studied Art History at the University of Bordeaux, France, and moved to Los Angeles in 1992 where she broadened her exposure with a PR and Communication degree at UCLA.

  Sophie has kept drawing throughout her life, using this practice as a means to carry her into deep meditative state. Sophie’s fairly recent move to Bali allowed her to dive deeper into the realm of her imagination, integrating dominant cultural and natural elements of Indonesia into her work in the form of patterns and expression.

  Sophie’s subject matter is everything but “usual” - all members of the same circus family travelling through the depth of her subconscious mind. The feerique and unusual are her main triggers, using Chinese ink on paper as her medium of choice to satisfy her need for meticulous and neat work comprised of multiple patterns.

  “Exploration of the unknown” is what drives Sophie, leading her to practice what she calls the “subconscious flow” of letting her soul’s expression lead the way. “I never know in advance what I’m going to draw, I let the pen dance on the white page; one line leads to another” expresses Sophie about her process.  “I enjoy exploring the boundaries of the beautiful and the burlesque, the delicate and the bold in all my characters.”

  “Send in the Clowns” is her latest work, a representation of unusual and exuberant characters she loves and happily lives with.

  The public interest from our show at Klapa led to a starlight event for the Fashion Soundset at the SOS Anantara on Saturday, June 12th with Word of Mouth rocking it with its 2010 collection.

   

• Fashion Show for Kompas Group

  Word Of Mouth was invited by PT Kompas Media to present its 2010 collection on the catwalk for the first time at Klapa Beach Club as part of the launch of its new magazine, In Style, on June 3rd2010. The collection was very well received and the night was capped by a round of fireworks and applause.

  April 30th 2010, a night filled with stunning limited edition vintage jewelry from the 30’s to 80’s.... Christian Dior; Karl Lagerfeld; Emilio Pucci and many more.

  On April 16th 2010, Word Of Mouth and Tugu Hotel joined forces to present live for the first time in Bali, Grammy-nominated Brazilian Bossa Nova Diva Bebel Gilberto! The night was perfect for a concert well overdue to the scene, sold out tickets, and almost 400 guests in attendance!
